I spent over 30 years doing Enterprise R&D work for Nortel and then Avaya.

Switching gears at the age of 54, I co-founded SHMS Inc with the objective of providing metrics-based marketing services primarily to businesses in the Quinte area. However, SHMS now has customers from Toronto to Montreal including Air Canada Pionairs, Bell Canada Pensioners Group and MCC Dental (an international supplier of dental cabinets) as well as a strong base of local businesses in the Quinte area.

I believe I am an example of how someone over 50 can re-invent themself and learn new things while leveraging previous experiences. I switched from working at a large corporation focused on R&D to a very small entrepreneurial company focused on marketing services.

My company has grown by word of mouth and prides itself on developing long term, win-win relationships with its clients. SHMS’s first customer in 2013 was Off the Hook Clothing which is still an SHMS client today. 

Today we believe we offer best-in-class website hosting for small and medium businesses. Simply put we don’t think you can find better hosting than what we offer and we explain why here.

I make sure that I allocate some of my time and my company’s services to local charity organizations that I believe in including the G. May Project, Heartfit Respite, the Terry Fox Run and several others. In the end, I believe what really matters is the people you work with and the value that you provide.
