Before Starting our business, I worked in the Home Care industry as a Caregiver both inside and outside my home. I then decided to become a foster parent. During this time, I dealt with home support workers on a regular basis. This wasn’t always a positive experience. After a few years, a friend who I worked with, talked about starting our own company. With my own experience in home care and my partner Marina Thistle’s in financial, we decided to look into starting our own business and becoming equal partners.

I started our Company “A New Beginning Home Support Agency Inc” at the age of 51. I share this Company with my business partner, Marina Thistle. We started this business because of our previous experience with home care. We felt we could change the face of home care by providing the best service to individuals needing assistance with activities of daily living.

Our motto when we started was if we would not put a particular worker with our own parents, we would not put them with yours. We believe we are living up to these values with caring, and responsible workers. We have a wonderful client base that have become a part of our families and we love to ensure that not only are their basic needs met, but that they are well cared for and loved.

We believe in supporting our communities and want to give back to those less fortunate. Some of the contributions that A New Beginning has made throughout this year have been: Mount Pearl Frosty Festival, St. Kevin’s Parish, Ride for Lupus, Ron McDonalds House, and other groups.

We worked with NLOWE for our business plan and Metro Business Opportunities for our financing. These organizations helped us with the knowledge, training and funding to create A New Beginning Home Support Agency.
