Bob Nutbrown was educated in agriculture and economic development. His early career was with the PEI government in agriculture, development and eventually Secretary to the Cabinet. In the mid 80’s he left PEI to pursue a career in government in Ontario but his entrepreneurial spirit led him to owning and operating one of the largest real estate firms in the country. In real estate he became an expert in the mergers and acquisitions of nursing homes and retirement homes.

This industry expertise led Bob to want to be an owner in a industry that offers financial return and more importantly community involvement – today they call that a social entrepreneur. Bob also wanted to find a way to get back to Prince Edward Island. Between 2006 and 2008 he acquired 4 nursing care homes in PEI and has operated these business since. Providing accommodations and care for 300 seniors and employing 350 staff. Bob was 62 when he acquired the nursing homes that now make up PEI Seniors Homes.

PEI Seniors Homes has improved its quality of care, work place culture and the daily experiences of its residents. We have grown as a company by expanding the total number of residents we can care for.

Training our staff has been a top priority as we believe that by focusing attention on the staffs skills we improve the quality of the resident’s daily experience. As a company we regularly give back to the community through donations, fundraising and by opening the facility to the community as a hub for activities. We encourage and support our staff in their community involvement as well.
