Ruth Heyerdahl – My Health & Wellness Corner

Ruth Heyerdahl spent 40 years as an medical administrative assistant and had the honour of working in all of the Ottawa Regions major hospitals, government, research offices, renowned doctors’ and dental surgeons’ offices (with a brief, 3-year stint as Office Manager of a private school).
Ruth took a brief hiatus (1993-1997) to participate in Algonquin College’s Bioengineering programme fully intending to become “The World’s Ansa to Canca”, during which she started making her own natural cleaning products as she was aware many products contained carcinogens, neurotoxins and hormone disruptors. Shortly after that, Ruth began developing her own personal care products.
In 2012, Ruth began studying holistic nutrition and aromatherapy with well-respected institutions and instructors in order to relieve her husband’s symptoms associated with his chronic (and eventually terminal) lung disease. He died in 2015, but he mentioned that the “more natural and holistic treatments had helped, too” – without the side effects of that lab-simulated pharmaceuticals caused.
A few weeks before her 58th birthday, Ruth left her “real” job and My Health and Wellness Corner™ was born.
Through this medium, Ruth has been teaching essential oil safety as so many essential oil companies are teaching unsafe (and potentially dangerous) practises. It was also around this time, Ruth was introduced to chakra balancing and crystal light therapy.
Since then, Ruth has presented at the Institute for Holistic Nutrition (IHN) and has been an exhibitor and presenter at the Live the Smart Way™ Expo for the last two years, de-bunking some of the most popular myths about essential oils.
In 2018, “My Health and Wellness Corner™” developed chakra-aligned “Symptom Soothers™” (a.k.a. “Therapy Blends”) and aromatherapy inhalers, unscented deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, and seasonally-scented room sprays. (NOTE: Ruth does not sell essential oils as there are many other companies doing that.)
To celebrate turning 60 in 2019, Ruth decided to expand her services and offer chakra balancing and crystal light therapy to the residents of Ottawa in local spas and wellness centres.
