Trish Petersen  – Beyond the Classroom

For many years I worked in the Pharmaceutical Industry in various capacities, always managing multiple stakeholders all with a vested interest in the same goal, a successful product. That work history transferred into several years of coaching and training, all with a focus on education and supporting individuals to be successful on their own terms. Today with my Beyond the Classroom franchise in Mississauga, I find myself in a familiar role of managing multiple stakeholders and supporting individuals (children and youth) to be successful, resourceful and independent lifelong learners. 

I started this business as a franchise owner at the age of 50 – an appropriate year, I felt, to begin something new and exciting to me. Beyond the Classroom appealed to me because of their Whole Child approach, providing academic support alongside an awareness that success is all-encompassing. 

Over the past 4 years I have had the privilege to work with teachers, parents and children who recognize and embrace this definition of success.text

As the owner and administrator of Beyond the Classroom in South Mississauga over the past 4 years, I have had the privilege of witnessing first-hand the realization of potential when a child is confident in their own abilities. Sometimes this confidence takes time and attention to build. Sometimes we get the opportunity to nurture this confidence through our one on one tutoring that is led by the needs of the individual child and supported by our amazing and caring tutors. I am proud of the fact that our teachers are experts at providing specific academic support and they also recognize their role as coach and mentor in their relationships with their students.
